In order to be an effective therapist it is important to have a range of life experiences, to really like people, and to study hard, both on a practical and academic basis.  Practical skills are needed to work directly with clients, but the theory and academic base is also required to understand what you are doing and why you need to do it.  It is also vital to continue with on-going training, lectures and workshops throughout professional life to enhance and hone existing skills, plus enabling the use of any new techniques that may become available.

It is, therefore, imperative that your therapist has qualifications that are recognised worldwide, such as degrees from established Academic Institutions in the UK, or qualifications that would be accepted by a UK University such as The University of East Anglia, or Warwick University.  This will indicate that the qualifications are of a suitable and equal standard of education and practical experience, as those courses offered and examined in the UK.

Unfortunately some therapists will claim to have spurious First Degrees, Masters, Doctorates or even Professorships, and in fact all they have done is to pay for a pretty certificate from another country/continent, with no onus on them to have studied at all, and having no valid measurement of skill or knowledge.

The academic qualifications achieved by Josephine P Teague were gained from UK Universities and Institutions.  The vocational qualifications were gained from reputable associations in the UK and USA.

The myths and mysteries that have surrounded this subject for centuries bear no resemblance to the facts, and this brochure is intended to make clear that what takes place is a very normal, non-magical process that produces predictable results, time after time.

Hypnosis, often referred to as "Conscious Hypnosis" is a very natural phenomenon and can best be described as "a state of relaxation and concentration combined with a state of heightened awareness."  There is absolutely no question of being controlled or manipulated: nobody can be made to do anything that they do not want to do.  A person in hypnosis is not "asleep" and is fully aware of what is taking place, probably more so than usual as their senses would be functioning more efficiently than normal.

There is no magic involved, and when you become a Client at Hypnosis & Health, in the comfort and security of the consulting room, Josephine Teague will use her voice to induce a state of hypnosis: no swinging watch chains or flowing robes, just a reassuring manner to put you at ease and the expertise to help you with your individual problem.

As there is no such thing as a "hypnotised feeling", you probably won't feel as though you are in a trance, but what you will most likely be aware of is a particularly pleasant feeling of mental and physical relaxation. Almost anybody can enter the state of hypnosis, the exceptions being very young children, the mentally challenged, and inebriates or those using psychotropic drugs.

Various techniques can be used within the hypnotic state, such as:

Suggestion Therapy

This is a straightforward method used to control the simpler problems such as smoking, nail biting, weight-control, confidence-boosting, etc., and requires between 1 and 4 sessions, depending on the Client's individual needs.

Analytical / Regression Therapy

There is no reason at all why anyone should have to put up with something that is "inside of themselves but outside their control", and emotional and psychological problems respond particularly well to the analytical method of treatment.

Based on the principle of "cause and effect", the object of the analysis is to search for and discover the original reason (cause) of a particular problem, (or fear, or type of behaviour).  Having revealed the cause, and thus removed it, a permanent and lasting relief of the symptom is brought about as the Client is often brought to "a moment of surprising and liberating enlightenment".

The use of Conscious Hypnosis dramatically "speeds up" the Analytical process, achieving in a matter of weeks, what would be expected of the more conventional "1000 hour" Analysis.  It can fairly confidently be predicted that a release of the cause will be obtained usually within an average of twelve weekly sessions for the majority of clients.

Ericksonian styly therapy which uses metaphors and language patterns to elicit change.

There are other techniques which may be explained to you as needed.

It is of course possible to mix various types of therapies and to utilise NLP, visualisation, Guided Affective Imagery or Symbolic interventions as appropriate or as a combination therapy to meet the individual needs of each Client's particular problem.

Who can benefit from Hypnotherapy?
Almost everyone!  Whether you merely need a little help to break a habit, or rid yourself of an acute anxiety or emotional problem.  Hypnosis is a totally natural, perfectly safe method of treatment.  Unlike some drugs and tranquillisers, it has no unpleasant side effects and is therefore able to help with an extremely wide range of conditions.

Apart from boosting your willpower (as an aid to maintaining a healthy diet) and increasing your motivation for weight control, and to cease smoking, there are many other areas where Hypnotherapy can help to enhance the quality of your life.  Perhaps you'd like a little more self-confidence, or to improve your concentration, or perhaps you need a bit of a "boost" to get you through an exam or driving test.  Hypnosis & Health can help in so many areas.  Some problems which hypnosis may sometimes be of help with are listed below:-

Accident Worries- Poor memory- Problems with eating- Adult bed wetting-Blushing- Travel problems -A fear of being enclosed - Exam Nerves -Performance problems - Fear of failure -General unexplained fears -Uncontrolled Gambling - Grief- Unwanted Habits- Indecision - Procrastination - Social problems-Feelings of insecurity - Poor sleeping- Study problems - Learning problems - Marital problems -Headaches - Over-Reacting - Pain Management - Anxieties - Excessive fear of varying things - Pre-Natal Relaxation - Public Speaking - Feeling Rejected - Improving Relationships - Sales Performance - Feeling shy - Smoking - Sports Performance - Stage Fright - Stress Management - General worries + many others, far toonumerous to mention.
